We've been to New Zealand, Australia and Rome
But this year we had to stay closer to home
We thought about Cornwall as a place for a break
But we both decided to visit the Lakes.
We picked up some brochures and looked on the net
What sort of trip should we finally get?
The coach trips looked good, lots of places to show
But none of them went when we wanted to go.
We could stay in hotels, or a caravan tow
We could camp in a field, but the wind it might blow
Then I looked on the net for a nice B & B
"I've found one" I said, it'll suit thee and me
So from Dorset we drove on a nice Sunday morn
For I'd done all the jobs, and cut the lawn
The drive took us north, way up the M6
We finally got there, around about 6
We followed directions to Windermere
1st left past the Coop and then we were there
We parked the car, in a place we were able
and got our first look at the sight of 'Green Gables'
No intercom working so I rang the bell
Alex opened the door and we knew all was well
Come into the lounge and fill out this form
After such a long journey you must feel forlorn
We climbed up some stairs, and then up again!
Oh look out the window, it's started to rain
We looked through the glass as best we were able
"Oh look" I then said, this is a green gable
The room it was clean and the breakfasts were great
and Carole asked Lesley "What's to go on your plate?"
"I'll cook what you want to go on your dish
and if you would like it, i'll even cook fish"
Six days went by, they passed in a flash
Then we had to leave, for a ferry to catch
We loaded the car and in it I sat
We aint goint nowhere "the battery's flat"
Then Carole said "Brian I'll give you a jump"
and Alex came too, to make sure we don't bump
Car loaded and started we were ready to go
We drove down the road and the horn I did blow
The visitors book "Oh we did not sign"
But the comments below are both hers and mine
